We Throw Starfish

Steve and I get asked all the time what we are doing in Uganda. My mind always races to where to begin to answer the question. There are so many aspects of our journey especially since its totally a God thing from the beginning. So as I reflect where we are today and look at the full scope of things here in Uganda, I would say that “We throw Starfish”. Most of you may know the starfish story but if not here goes.

One day a huge wave came upon the beach bringing with it thousands of starfish that had been in the bay . The tide quickly receded leaving all the starfish to die on the shore.

An old man walking on the beach sees the starfish and begins to pick up one by one and throw them back into the bay. Along comes another man who sees the situation and goes up to the old man and says “ your wasting your time there are so many, it wont make a difference”.

The old man replied as he bent down to throw yet another starfish into the sea, but it made a difference for this one, and this one as he continued to bend down and throw another starfish into the sea.

Well, that’s what we are doing here in Uganda. Doing our best to make a difference in a few people’s life’s . God lead us here and has opened the doors and relationships that have gotten us to this point.

Some days we seem to accomplish a lot and other days things seem to stand still. But at the end of the day no matter what , we know we are here for a reason.
