We're Opening Doors!
If you were to ask the average Ugandan student what they want to be when they grow up, you will get the same handful of answers: a doctor, a teacher, a pilot, an engineer, and so on. While these are great aspirations, the reality is that these students largely do not know what these careers really involve. They are also unaware of the countless other career choices that are available to them. Lastly, these students have not had the opportunity to identify their particular gifts and talents that would determine the career that they would both thrive in and enjoy.
This is why we have added Mrs. Emma Sempa, a career guidance counselor, to our team. As our SONBT scholarship students are getting older and beginning to think about their futures, we saw the necessity to offer these students guidance and direction.
Mrs. Emma recently conducted a workshop with our high school students to get the wheels turning, helping them begin to think about how God has individually gifted them and how that will guide them in choosing a career. She will be working closely with our students to help develop individual plans for their future success. It’s exciting to be able to open more doors of possibility for each of our students!
